Alex's blog

This morning, on the way in to work, I was praying and thinking about the fact that my prayer life kinda stinks lately. I need and want to engage with God but I allow myself to be too busy, distracted, or just plain lazy. Sometimes it feels like an obligation – more of a duty than a delight. I know it’s not the act of praying that is special – prayer is just a vehicle that allows us to connect and communicate with God and experience intimate fellowship with Him; and I want that – I just don’t always want to pray.

Hello everyone! It's been a short Summer, but a long time since I've blogged. I want to thank our special guest bloggers who filled in for me during the Summer season. I think they did a FANTASTIC job and I hope that you were blessed and challenged by their posts.

This week's guest blogger is Chip Ingram. Chip is the founder and director of Living On The Edge - an on-line Christian resource ministry that seeks to help followers of Christ grow in spiritual maturity. He is also the Senior Pastor of Venture Christian Church in Los Gatos, CA. His blog entry is called "Finding Hope When You're At The End Of Your Rope." I know you'll enjoy it. Check it out below . . .

This week's guest blogger is Harry Fletcher. Rev., Dr. Harry Fletcher is the Vice President of International Ministry & Pastoral Care for Good News Jail & Prison Ministry. That's a fancy way of saying he's one of my bosses! He is an amazing man and God has blessed his ministry with an amazing impact, literally all around the world! Someday, when I grow up, I want to be just like him! Anyway, his blog entry is called "God Saves The Best For Last." Check it out below . . .

Our second Summer guest blogger is Buddy Cremeans. Buddy is the Senior Pastor of Northway Church in Albany, New York. He's a great guy and God has blessed him with a great multi-site ministry in and around the capital district. His blog entry is called "Autopsy Of The Church." Check it out below . . .

Hey there, it's Alex. Thanks for checking out my blog. During the Summer season (July-August) I'm going to take a little break from blogging - sort of a "blog-fast", no pun intended. Right now, we're just about half-way through our blog series in the book of Malachi about Honoring God, and we'll finish that up together when I get back to blogging in September. Anyway, in my place, I've got some FANTASTIC guest bloggers scheduled who will more than fill my shoes.

In Malachi 2:10-12, the Bible describes the fourth practical way that you and I can live lives that honor God. The key theme in this fourth section of the book deals with partnerships between believers (i.e. God’s people / followers of Christ) and unbelievers (i.e. those who don’t truly know and/or follow Christ).

It's all about honor. In Malachi 2:1-9, the Bible describes the third practical way that you and I can live lives that honor God. The key theme in this third section of the book deals with being a good steward of the spiritual leadership responsibilities in our lives.

It’s all about honor. Specifically, It’s all about honoring God. God is looking for some people who will live lives that honor Him. That’s what the entire book of Malachi in the Old Testament is all about – honoring God. In Malachi 1:6-14, the Bible describes the second practical way that you and I can live lives that honor God.
